I hold a Masters Degree from Pepperdine University’s Clinical Psychology program, with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Currently I am working towards my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Fielding Graduate University. I have worked in various mental health settings including community mental health clinics, inpatient treatment centers and research clinics. In 2010 I assisted a study at the UCLA Semel Institue Mood Disorder Clinic under Dr. Lori Altshuler, who was a pioneer in the treatment and research of Bipolar Disorder. In this project I assisted a study comparing two different medications for Bipolar depression.
In that same year, I worked as a research assistant at the UCLA Anxiety Lab under Dr. Michelle Craske, who has published extensively regarding the causes and treatment of Anxiety Disorders. At the Anxiety Lab I assisted on a study that compared Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for the treatment of Social Anxiety Disorder. During my time at the UCLA Anxiety Lab, I assisted with both CBT and ACT interventions and developed a passion for working with Anxiety and Mood disorders.
I continued to gain more knowledge and experience working at community mental health clinics. Phoenix House Rehabilitation Center and Didi Hirsch. At these facilities I worked with adults and adolescents who were seeking treatment for anxiety, depression, addictions and trauma. I have worked in hospital settings, community mental health clinics and crisis centers before moving onto private practice.
In addition, I trained many years with Joseph Pilates protégé Risa Sheppard and I am a certified Pilates instructor. Since 2010 I taught mindful movement to physical therapy and fitness clients. After years of studying and teaching Pilates, I realized the significant connection between the mind and the body in the healing process. As a result, I pay attention to somatic experiences throughout the therapeutic process and aim to increase my client’s awareness around the connection between mind, body and soul.
As a therapist, I am passionate about understanding the human experience while building a genuine connection and therapeutic relationship with my clients. My approach to therapy is engaging, warm and empathic. Each person’s experience is unique and healing and growth look different for everyone. I feel honored to be a part of this journey and I am inspired everyday by the strength and resiliency of the human spirit.
