EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a well-researched and established therapy that combines imagery, mindfulness, and cognitive techniques to meet the client’s treatment needs. EMDR therapy is often used in trauma treatment and in the treatment of anxiety.

The process of doing EMDR therapy usually involves focus on a traumatic or disturbing memory while doing back and forth eye movements, listening to alternating tones, and/or feeling alternating vibrations in your hands.

The number of sessions required for this form of treatment varies depending on the issues being addressed.

Before starting your EMDR sessions I will screen you to make sure you are a fit for EMDR therapy and that you have the necessary coping skills to start this form of treatment.

One of the fallacies about EMDR Therapy is that it results in memory loss. EMDR does not lead to memory loss. The goal of EMDR Therapy is to build more adaptive emotions around the memory in order to no longer trigger unpleasant reactions.

I offer both talk therapy and EMDR therapy using an online platform. Both therapeutic approaches can be quite effective utilizing the online platform.
